What a day looks like
Our day starts with a morning circle where we greet one another and our environment. By aligning with the natural rhythm of our bodies, we participate in activities that assist in guiding children through calmer and reflective experiences (in-breathe) as well as more energetic and imaginative activities (out-breathe)). For example, we might enjoy free play on tricycles, bikes, and play structures, followed by some quiet reading time in our spacious 16-foot dome tent. We also set aside moments for snacks and lunch, along with seasonal crafting. Music and songs are integrated into our daily routine. We take walks, embark on adventures, and allow time for quiet moments and napping (for those who still need it). We conclude our day with a simple goodbye circle.
How Food Works
Snacks and lunch are provided. We will offer an organic grain each day and families will rotate through bringing protein, fruits or vegetables. Typically a family will provide those items once a week so that you don’t have to worry about washing out your bento box and packing food last minute. Having collective healthy foods encourages children to eat well and try new things.
Honoring Diversity
We appreciate the diverse backgrounds we all come from and embrace our differences. We celebrate holidays and birthdays, incorporating each family's unique customs and cultures. Cultural celebrations of Judaism are observed throughout the year, with a special Shabbat celebration every Friday that includes songs and challah making.
Pedagogy
Every child is a unique universe, and our mission is to support their growth and development as individuals. Our school is play-based, and we spend the majority of our time outdoors unless the weather poses a risk to the children's health and well-being. The great outdoors serves as our classroom. We prioritize the social and emotional well-being of each child, fostering a safe and nurturing environment where friendships blossom and students find ways to resolve conflicts. Throughout the day, we share parables and metaphors through stories that connect to our activities and impart meaningful moral lessons.
Family Participation
Just like every child becomes a part of our community, parents and guardians are vital members of our school too. We often share updates about the well-being of our students through photos and end-of-day check-ins. Additionally, we host seasonal gatherings where families come together to strengthen connections.
Weekly Fieldtrips
Once a week, we embark on field trips to local parks, beaches, and other interesting locations. It's always a joy to keep things lively with our weekly adventures. This fosters a greater sense of wonder as children learn from the diversity and beauty of the world around them.
Can I sign up for one day, one week, or the whole year???
Here is how it works.
Yes, you can join for one day a week, or you can join for two, three, or four days a week.
You start with a trial day or 2 so we can meet each other and see how the connection is for all of us.
After we get clear, you can sign up for a month. If that all feels good, we can commit for the year.
Enrollment has begun, and we are trying to keep the class size to around 6 children.
We begin school after Labor Day
